Prayer

“How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” Romans 10:14

10 ways to pray for refugees:

  1. Pray that God would provide for the essential needs of security, shelter, water, food and medical care for the 78 million refugees in the world. Pray that God would hear their cries and lead them to places of safety.

  2. Pray that God would raise up peacemakers to countries where wars, violence and persecution are forcing people from their homes. Pray for major refugee producing countries: Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Central Africa Republic, Iraq, Yemen and Eritrea.

  3. Pray for our forcibly displaced brothers and sisters who live in difficult circumstances and with uncertain futures. Pray that God would give them their daily bread. Pray that he will heal their hearts, minds and bodies from traumas suffered. Pray that they would know God’s presence with them and that God would give them a hope and a future.

  4. Pray for refugee women and children. They are among the world’s most vulnerable people and make up more than half of the world’s refugee population. Pray that God would protect them from people who would like to prey upon them and exploit their vulnerability.

  5. Pray for refugee youth far from home. As they cannot return home, and many are unable to continue their education, they face many challenges in a world in which they have no reason to hope for a better future. Pray that God to reunite families and bring restoration.

  6. Pray for countries hosting refugees. 80% of the world’s refugee population is found in developing countries close to regions of conflict as they carry the heaviest load. Pray for major refugee hosting countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Kenya and Ethiopia.

  7. Pray for Refugee Ministries and Non-Governmental Agencies serving refugees. These frontline agencies serve refugees with their essential needs for security, shelter, food, medical care, resettlement. They often struggle to have the adequate funding needed to provide their services.

  8. Pray for the churches and ministry leaders who are part of the Refugee Highway Partnership and HowWillTheyHear Campaign to find ways and raise up new workers to serve among forcibly displaced peoples in Europe, Turkey and the Middle East.

  9. Pray for asylum-seekers and refugees who struggle to find employment and affordable housing. Many have made long and dangerous journeys across the Sahara Desert and Mediterranean Sea to reach a country in Europe in which they hoped to find refuge – only to find that they are unwelcome.

  10. Pray for the world’s leaders to respond to terrorism and the global refugee crisis with discernment, justice and compassion rather than fear, retaliation and racial hatred.
